Treat yourself to a sumptuous dining experience at L’Espérance restaurant at Les Grandes Rousses, at the heart of the resort of Alpe d’Huez. The semi-fine-dining restaurant is open to everyone.
Step through the door and soak up the warm atmosphere and tasteful, contemporary mountain-style décor, complete with authentic, noble materials like aged wood, copper and dolomite stone cladding and soft furnishings such as cosy curtains, throws and cushions made from Alpine wool and leather. The magic is complete with a palette of deep reds, bronzes and copper hues. In short, the perfect ingredients for an elegant, sumptuous dining experience with a view of the mountains !
So take a seat in one of the private alcoves or around a large table by the fireplace or on the terrace in one of our heated wood and glass pods and explore our stunning menu concocted by Head Chef Pascal Glory.
Then choose the perfect glass to accompany your dish from our selection of great vintages and wines from smaller producers, each hand-picked by our very own sommelier and wine-maker Vincent Carret. Whether you opt for a traditional or bold combination, the result will be a sublime symphony of flavours !

The Head Chef
Our Head Chef Pascal Glory is a master of his craft, selecting the very finest and freshest produce and sourcing locally wherever possible.
His extensive range of dishes has been shaped over the course of many years’ travel and by the people he has met along the way. The result is a creative, modern surf & turf cuisine.
That is as generous as it is elegant – and always a hit with food-loving guests. Each and every dish is a hymn to quality food, from Caesar-style tartare and house sweetbread, to Monsieur Rossini hamburger and stew with Guérande salt.
Pascal is also a « responsible chef », devising a fresh vegetarian menu each and every day.
And if you’re looking for a truly memorable experience, then check out the resort’s only saltwater tank of its kind, where seafood-lovers can pick the very freshest Breton lobster, crayfish and other shellfish.
New this winter :
Pascal has created a vast cheese cart that’s sure to delight cheese-lovers’ eyes and tastebuds! Guests can also sample a tasting board, washed down with a glass of Roussette de Savoie.

Outdoor pod dining
Have you always wanted to dine outdoors under the stars, with the Alpine peaks as your backdrop?
Well now you can at Les Grandes Rousses, in one of our wood and glass pods on the terrace. Dine al fresco at any time of year (the pods are heated in winter) for a truly magical, sociable experience. So take a seat and enjoy our Head Chef’s stunning dishes, complete with a glass of wine hand-picked by our sommelier Vincent Carret, with the sky and the snow in the background !
From 7:00 pm. Last order at 9:30 pm. Two services during school holidays.
If you’re dining with young children, please arrive before 8:00 pm.
For adults and teenagers, the restaurant is quieter after 8:30 pm.
Get ready for the day ahead with a comprehensive, generous buffet breakfast
- Cold buffet with fruit salad, yoghurt, cheese, cold meats, smoked salmon, and pastries, breads and cereals (gluten-free options available).
- Hot buffet with eggs, sausages, bacon, fried potatoes, etc.
